Holiday Reflections

December 25, 2015

We are proud and grateful with all that we have again been able to accomplish this past year with our Community of Compassion. With your help, our work touched and improved the lives of thousands around the world.

Merry Christmas

–We continued to provide camperships to children for Camp Ronald McDonald.  To know that we are instrumental in helping some of these children and their families experience Camp is incredibly rewarding.
–Through our work in Haiti with Hispaniola Mountain Ministries and the Lighthouse Foundation we served over 250,000 hot lunches to school-aged children this past year. We continue to work with partners in providing clean water, clothing, and medical assistance in remote areas of Haiti, to those who need our help the most.
–Working with our partner ReSurge International, a pioneer in the field of reconstructive surgery, we helped provide surgeries  to children and adults in some of the most remote regions of the world. We are proud to sponsor volunteer nurses who choose to donate their vacations to working with ReSurge International overseas.
–We have continued to support the profession of nursing by actively bringing into the focus, the proud profession that it is. We are always grateful and delighted to read the stories nurses share with us and to hear what nursing means to them.  We are honored to be a part of what we believe is the backbone of our healthcare systems and of medical care around the world, and we will continue to work as advocates for the profession  so that others will begin to understand and appreciate the value and impact that nurses make in this world.
Frida and I, and all of us at Barco’s Nightingales Foundation, hope that your holiday season is filled with love and peace, that your New Year is safe, and that you are gifted with many opportunities to make a difference in the lives of others in 2016.
