I had the opportunity, while in Peru with ReSurge, to visit with Angel and his family.  I did so because of the great disappointment that Angel’s family experienced when he could not get his cleft lip repaired because he had a fever.  When a child does not pass the physical they cannot have surgery.  I visited the home to offer to send Angel and his mother to Lima for the surgery when he got better.
Because of the challenges of the family, they did not accept the offer.  Fortunately earlier this year when Resurge returned to Pucallpa Peru he was approved for surgery and he had his cleft lip repaired.  It makes me very happy in knowing that Angel now wears a beautiful smile.
