Barco’s Nightingale Foundation supports the vitality and courageous heart of nursing, and honors the spirit of those women and men who choose nursing as a profession. We focus our efforts on helping mend the lives of children and their families. To help guide us as we accomplish these goals, we formed an Advisory Board composed of a global cross-section of industry, charities and financial planners. Today, we’d like to thank them for their hard work and support, and take this opportunity to briefly introduce them and invite you to learn more about them on our website.
1 Dan Wilson is an executive vice president managing the commercial banking team for Bank of the West in Southern California.
2 Phil Borges has spent over twenty-five years as a photographer, documenting indigenous and tribal cultures, striving to create an understanding of the challenges they face.
3 William Benton, CEO of GAINSystems, Inc., has over eighteen years in the distribution fields, is a recognized authority on Demand Planning, Inventory Organization, Distribution & Network Optimization, Collaborative Planning and General Operational Planning.
4 Rita Soronen, President and CEO of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, has dedicated over thirty years to abused, neglected and vulnerable children.
5 As principal of Positive Dynamics, a management consulting firm, Scott Ventrella brings over 25 years of organizational development experience with a unique blend of solid real-world application and academic credentials.
6 Nicole Friedland worked for much of her career with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, beginning as a special event coordinator for the Greater Bay Area chapter and culminating with five years as the organization’s executive director.
7 Nicole Rubin is the Founder and Principal of Impact Solutions, a company which advises nonprofits on how to maximize impact as they accomplish their missions.
8 Phil Little is president of Hispaniola Mountain Ministries, a nonprofit that builds houses and water wells in Haiti.
9 Dr. Courtney H. Lyder, ND, GNP, FAAN. Is the Dean of the UCLA School of Nursing, Medicine and Public Health, Executive Director, UCLA Patient Safety Institute, and Assistant Director of the UCLA Health System.
10 Dr. Stuart E. Siegel, M.D., is a Professor and Vice Chair of Pediatrics at USC’s Keck School of Medicine, as well as the Head of the Division of Hematology-Oncology at Children’s Hospital, Los Angeles.
11 As the Chief Executive Officer Ronald McDonald House Charities for Southern California, Vince Bryson works to unite all RMHCSC programs in order to meet the organization’s ultimate goal of improving the health and well-being of children in Southern California.
12 Sarah Orth, Executive Director of Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times®, joined them in December 2012, bringing more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit management and fundraising to the position.
13 As Chief Nursing Officer for Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania, Sherry Kwater, MSM, BSN, RN, brings more than 30 years of healthcare executive leadership to the Advisory Board.
14 John S. Hanna, Executive Director, Franchise Management, Disney Channel, is responsible for developing global franchise strategies for key Disney Junior top-rated preschool series, such as Jake and the Never Land Pirates and Mickey Mouse Club House.
15 Julie Harper is the Sr. Director, U.S. Supply Chain, for McDonald’s Corporation. Having over 17 years with McDonald’s she currently leads a team responsible for over $1.5 billion in annual spend including all U.S. packaging, youth and adult promotion, uniforms and Arch Cards.
16 MarySue V. Heilemann, PhD, RN, is an Associate Professor, UCLA School of Nursing who created a symposium at UCLA focused on the image of nurses in media and continues to advocate for a more accurate portrayal of nurses in television, film and print media.
17 Joe Schaefer is Co-Founder and Partner at Innovative Systems, a developer and proven provider of enterprise-wide software solutions for the sewn products industry.
18 Bonnie Nijst, President and CEO of ZEESMAN, brings more than 20 years of experience in sales, marketing and public relations to branding and marketing programs that ZEESMAN creates.
