Nursing and the Media

Barco’s Nightingales Foundation is proud to have sponsored “Nursing And The Media,” a supplement to the  Nursing Outlook.  This groundbreaking publication  examines the way nurses are portrayed in the media – television, film, books, etc. – and offers ideas that can shape and guide future depictions.

“Nursing and the Media,” a supplement to Nursing Outlook sponsored by Barco’s Nightingales Foundation.

Authored by leading experts, the publication includes articles such as “Nurses and doctors in prime time series: The dynamics of depicting professional power,” “A film producer focuses on issues of social justice and nursing: An interview with Richard Harding,” and “Making a difference from the inside out.”
Since its publication, “Nursing and the Media” has generated discussions and examination of this subject among medical organizations, educational institutions, media companies and government agencies. Already, changes are being made.
