Welcome Dean Sarna, UCLA
We are delighted to extend a heartfelt welcome and congratulations to Professor Linda Sarna, who was named the interim dean for the UCLA School of Nursing. Our team is working closely with Dean Sarna to expand our collaborative partnership promoting the profession of nursing in the community.
Dean Sarna holds the prestigious Lulu Wolf Hassenplug Chair in the UCLA School of Nursing. Dean Sarna is widely recognized for her scholarship in promoting the role of nursing in tobacco control and for her research on the symptoms and quality of life of people with lung cancer. Through her active involvement in tobacco-control policy efforts both nationally and internationally, Dean Sarna has emphasized the need to change for nursing education and clinical practice.
She is an accomplished author with over 200 publications. She has received many honors, including recognition as a distinguished research professor by the Oncology Nursing Society. Dean Sarna received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing from UCLA and her PhD from UC San Francisco.
In keeping with her areas of study, Dean Sarna chaired the committee that implemented UCLA’s tobacco-free policy.
We look forward to working closely with Dean Sarna on improving and promoting the image of Nursing, as she guides the UCLA School of Nursing in redefining nursing through the pursuit of excellence in research, education, practice and patient advocacy.
