Water and Energy are inextricably linked; it takes energy to provide water and in many cases, water provides energy. In fact, it’s really the coming together of two of the most elemental life forces, sunshine delivering clean drinking water.
Most people don’t think about it. You turn on the tap and water comes out. But for nearly a billion people in the world, that’s not the case. They have no access to clean drinking water. And Haiti, the poorest nation in the western hemisphere, has to deal with issues of poverty and water scarcity on a daily basis. According to a study conducted by The Center for Human Rights and Global Justice, “only 55.2 percent of the population has access to an improved water source, while close to 70 percent does not have direct access to potable water.”

At Barco’s Nightingales, with our Community of Compassion, we have completed 6 solar water wells and are in the process of building our 7th. Each of these well serves about 3,000 people, which means that with your help we touch 21,000 lives every day!
We can do more.  Each solar water well averages a cost of $30,000 to build and we have more than 35,000 people in our Community of Compassion. If every person in our Community of Compassion each donated $1.00, we would have enough money to build our 8th well.
