A Note On Nursing Excellence…

September 29, 2015

Each month, we share articles highlighting programs supported by Barco’s Nightingales Foundation and our Community of Compassion.  Today, we want to focus on our Award of Excellence. This annual award honors and pays respect to nurses who have contributed to their profession and are committed to humanitarian work as volunteers, donating their time and professional skills to better the lives of others.
Our  past recipients have included:
Tina Cerutti, whose 30-year career has included giving two weeks each year to ReSurge International, and bringing greater public awareness to the concept of patient’s rights and to recognition of the nurse’s role as a patient advocate.

Cheryl Wraa, an original flight nurse who flew for 14 years, served as a founder, contributing author, and instructor for the Flight Nurse Trauma Course.
Maria Pedersen, another 30-year nurse who volunteers her extra time to ReSurge International and XP Family Support Group.  She is  a nurse and nurse-educator.
Rosemary Welde has been a medical volunteer with ReSurge International for 28 years and has volunteered her time on 35 medical missions for the benefit of children. In addition, she has spent over 25 years as an operating room nurse and an educator, lecturer.
We profile each honoree here on our website.
This October, at the Camp Ronald McDonald Gala, we will add another name to this illustrious roster as we honor another nurse for her dedication to her profession and others.
Frida and I are always pleased to present this annual award to a deserving nurse. Please help us honor these nurses and all nurses by joining our Community of Compassion and our work.
Thank you,
Michael and Frida Donner
