Volunteer with Our Partners

January 12, 2016

We have shared often the amazing and selfless work of our partners ReSurge International and Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times, from performing life changing corrective surgery on burn victims and children with debilitating cleft palates around the world, to working here at home with the youngest patients battling for their lives against cancer. As you know, their work relies heavily on the courageous hearts of nurse volunteers.
With the advent of the New Year, we encourage you to consider volunteering your knowledge and skill as a nurse with one of these organizations in 2016.

ReSurge International
Throughout the year, ReSurge International medical volunteers help developing world surgeons with their backlog of cases and help train local medical professionals. The volunteer surgical team and visiting educator programs offer volunteers the ability to work with their colleagues abroad while helping provide direct service to children and adults who need it the most.
Teams include volunteer plastic surgeons, anesthesiologists, pediatricians, operating room and recovery room nurses, as well as trip coordinator/translators fluent in the local language. Teams generally include 10 to 15 members who travel for about two weeks. For information on the current trip schedule, visit their website or download an application for a team.

Camp Ronald McDonald's for Good Times

Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times
Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times, also known simply as Camp, is always looking for doctor and nurse volunteers to join the Camp family. The Camp Med Shed team supports Camp health and wellness by providing a safe healthcare environment for all those who participate in the Camp programs: patient campers, sibling campers, Family Camp parents, Camp Staff, and volunteers.
Camp Nurses provide treatment as directed by the Camp Doctor and provide care to campers. Routine tasks include daily dispensing and documenting of camper and staff medications, support and supervision of camper central venous catheter care, and responding to camper and staff drop-in visits for everything from splinters, fevers, and tummy aches to potentially serious accidents or illnesses.
Overnight nurse volunteers are essential for the care of the campers and the comfort of their parents. To show Camp’s appreciation for the time and dedication to their campers, Camp welcomes the medical staff to invite their spouses and children to Camp. Camp offers 20 continuing education units for three volunteer days. For more information, please contact them.
For more information or to apply visit their website.
These organizations and their programs provide essential services to young children worldwide; we are proud to partner with them.  We hope you will consider volunteering; your experience will be beyond expression.
