Looking Forward
Looking forward to 2016 and beyond, we feel that it’s important to first look back and examine all we have accomplished so far with the support of our Community of Compassion. Our mission is to elevate and promote nursing while honoring the spirit of the profession by focusing on helping children.
For the past several years, we have collaborated with the UCLA School of Nursing in promoting positive images of nursing and working to remove stereotypes of nurses from the media. We support research and programs aimed at promoting the profession in a positive light.
We have built six solar water wells in the remote hill country of Haiti, bringing tens of thousands of gallons of fresh clean water each day to villagers who in the past spent entire days hauling water for miles to their homes.
We hit a milestone with our partner ReSurge, International when we surpassed 3,000 life-changing surgeries for children who were suffering with clefts and debilitating burn injuries.
More than 425 children battling pediatric cancer were able to attend Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times on camperships provided by Barco’s Nightingales Foundation. These children were given the opportunity to have fun and forget for a little while, the serious battles they face.
Each day we serve hot lunches to nearly 800 school children in Haiti, giving them a chance to learn and receive the nourishment they need.
Looking forward, we plan to expand our work with ReSurge International, with Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times, and in Haiti. And, we intend to continue to advocate for nurses so they receive the respect and opportunities they deserve.
We are also looking forward to your continued support and we hope to see all of you at the Walk for Kids on April 3. We are eternally grateful for your support and know you are proud of the work your generosity enables.
