Importance of Nurses

What They Do

Nurses are focused on providing patient-centered care. The process nurses use to accomplish this is comprised of 5 steps: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This process helps nurses manage symptoms experienced by patients hour by hour, day by day, week by week.

Regardless of all their responsibilities, the unifying factor is that every nursing action requires clinical skills, critical thinking, and harmonious dedication to enhancing health and reducing illness. Nurses need to have an all-encompassing view so they can help individual patients, groups of patients and their families, communities, and whole populations, depending on the setting where they practice.

What they do

The BNF Connection

Barco Uniforms owner, Kenneth Donner admired nurses. He saw the specialness of what it took to be a nurse – their strength, unique knowledge base, and dedication.

Michael (his son) and Frida Donner created Barco’s Nightingales Foundation (BNF) in honor of Michael’s parents and Frida’s grandparents to help children-in-need. They had the added focus of honoring nurses. Nurses are BNF’s heart and soul, its spirit of action and compassion.

Nurse Advocacy

In appreciation of the profession of nursing, we have created a nurse graduate program and partnered with one of the universities in California. Each graduate nurse receives a scrub set in appreciation for choosing the career of nursing and dedicating their lives to help others.

Nurse Excellence Award

Beyond their daily dedication and commitment to helping others, many nurses also volunteer to help others in need.

Out of respect for their profound demonstration of compassion and care for others, BNF bestows an award upon 2 volunteer nurses annually. Since 2011, we have given this award to over 14 volunteer nurses.
