Barco is Proud to Support Nurses for Edna

August 29, 2013

This wonderful article in News-Line for Nurses talks about one of our ongoing projects to help send nurses to Somaliland with the Edna Adan Maternity Hospital.   These ladies are truly inspirational.  The link to the entire article is at the end.
“The newest project for One Nurse At A Time is “Nurses for Edna.” Over the past year, many nurses from all over the US and Canada wrote for volunteer advice. I noticed a common thread of women’s healthcare. We brought several nurses together in person electronically and decided to create a joint opportunity for a mission to Somaliland with Edna Adan Maternity Hospital, which we knew from Half the Sky (the book by Nicholas Kristoff and Sheryl WuDunn). Barco’s Nightingales Foundation* is providing financial support, and four nurses will travel this summer for six weeks giving hands-on nursing care, training at the bedside, and teaching in Edna’s nursing and midwifery program. It’s bound to be a life-changing mission on many levels.”
