Personal Stories of Challenges and Successes

July 18, 2014

As part of our commitment to honoring the vitality and heart of nursing and honoring the spirit of those women and men who choose nursing as a profession, we regularly share nurses stories on our website.  These stories, rarely heard elsewhere, focus on their challenges, and successes, their reasons for choosing nursing, and their advice for new nurses.  They are truly uplifting.

For example, Sarah Strohminger told us that she chose nursing because of her love for service.

“I have a passion for the individual and love of meeting new people. Each individual is unique and to be a part of their lives’ is rewarding. Learning new things is fun for me and I enjoy getting to spend moments with people to make lasting memories. Nursing is a profession that can help me pursue my life’s goal of service to the needy.”

Deborah Skovron, a 40-year veteran nurse, with 34 years in the NICU, talked about what she learned in her career.

“We learn that trust and honesty are crucial. We gain the skills necessary to form intimate, human bonds with absolute strangers in a matter of minutes.”

We invite you  to read and share these  stories and many more on our Nurses Stories page. And, if you are a nurse or know a nurse we can profile, we would love to hear from you.
