10,530 Lives Changed and Counting
Frida and I established Barco’s Nightingales Foundation in 2008 as our way of honoring generations of nurses for their contributions and dedication to making the world a better place. Through our Foundation, we also have paid tribute to our loved ones who taught us honesty, integrity, compassion, and a commitment to inspire the hearts of others.
Stopping to look back over the past six years and what we have accomplished gives us pause and brings joy to our hearts even though we know there is still so much more to do. Without the generosity, support and hard work of our growing Community of Compassion, we never could have achieved so much in such a short time. Together we:
— funded 1,950 life-changing surgeries with ReSurge International.
— provided 375 children living with cancer with camperships at Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times.
— donated 165 nights at Ronald McDonald House for families of children undergoing treatment.
— completed 5 (with the sixth one due to come on line this year) solar wells in Haiti that provide safe drinking water each day for over 7,500 children and adults through the Hispaniola Mountain Ministries.
— delivered 540 hot lunches (and still do daily) for the students at the school in Haiti where our first solar water well was built.
— supplied 3 travel scholarships for volunteer nurses through One Nurse At A Time and Nurses for Edna.
— helped 1,000 children in pediatric care units receive comfort through Owie BowWowie.
— changed the lives of 10,530 children and their families with support, resources, and love.
We cannot make this type of impact on the world or touch these lives without the generous support of our partners, donors, and all of you, your friends and families. On behalf of Barco’s Nightingales Foundation, Frida and I thank you for your continued support and look forward to expanding the work we have begun.
