Barco’s Nightingales Foundation and Scrubs & Beyond to Build a Solar Water Well in Haiti
Barco’s Nightingales Foundation and Scrubs & Beyond, a national healthcare apparel retailer, are partnering to raise $35,000, the cost of building a desperately needed solar water well in Haiti through a Facebook fundraising campaign.
Today, the United Nations and NGOs working in Haiti report that nearly 55% of Haitians lack direct access to potable water. The majority of the country’s health problems are caused by lack of clean water and malnutrition, and annually, almost 7,000 children under the age of five die from causes related to contaminated drinking water.
The need for clean water is undeniable, which is why we have worked so hard to bring clean water to Haiti. The generosity of Scrubs & Beyond in supporting this effort is truly a marvelous outcome of a long-standing relationship. Our Foundation is currently building its sixth solar water well in Haiti, and with this remarkable support, we will be able to build a seventh.
For every new follower or LIKE on the Barco’s Nightingales Foundation Facebook page receives between September 2 and September 30, 2014, $5.00 will be donated toward the goal of $35,000, or 7,000 new followers.
“We are inspired by the caregiver every day at Scrubs & Beyond. Through the support of Barco’s Nightingales Foundation and its solar water well project, we want to honor the caregivers, who work tirelessly to improve patient health every day, by offering families in Haiti a chance to improve their health with clean water,” said Karla Bakersmith, CEO and founder of Scrubs & Beyond.
