Barco's Nightingales Foundation Applauds National Clinician Scholars Program

April 10, 2015

We were thrilled to see the launch this month of the National Clinician Scholars Program at The University of Michigan, University of California Los Angeles, University of Pennsylvania and Yale University. The new program is designed to “train scholars to lead policy-relevant research and catalyze partnerships to improve health and health care” according to news announcements from the universities.

Linda Sarna UCLA’s Linda Sarna has been appointed interim dean of the UCLA School of Nursing. She holds the Lulu Wolf Hassenplug Chair.

“Best patient outcomes require nurses to be full partners in delivering the right care in the right settings,” said Linda Sarna, interim dean of the UCLA School of Nursing and co-director of the UCLA program. “The new National Clinician Scholars Program provides physicians and nurses the opportunity to work together to achieve better health outcomes.”
We are delighted to be collaborating closely with UCLA and the University of Pennsylvania already, and hope to expand our work with other universities including Yale and the University of Michigan. At Barco’s Nightingales, we believe that nurses play a vital role in our world as they work to heal the bodies, hearts, and minds of patients and their families and we are committed to helping society recognize the invaluable work that nurses do.
We applaud these universities for their foresight and leadership in providing opportunities commensurate with the leadership nurses show every day in their profession.
